When you bought an incandescent bulb you knew that a higher wattage meant a brighter light. However, wattage really measures power consumption, not brightness. Lumens measure brightness. You can use the chart below to match the wattage of an incandescent to its LED counterpart. LEDs use less power and save money.
Warm lighting is similar to conventional lighting and has a softer feel. This lighting is perfect for living rooms and bedrooms.
Daylight - The colour of the lighting is used to represent ‘daylight colour’ indoors. It has neither the softness of warm white or the starkness of cool white.
Cool white - Is a brighter whiter light and is more suited for the bathroom or kitchen.
Slimline Bezel with a Beautiful Brushed Chrome Finish
This LED downlight has a sleek slimline bezel with a beautiful brushed chrome finish. It’s perfect for any interior design, whether traditional, classic, retro, or rustic. If you have this LED downlight in your home, you won’t have any issues matching it with your current design scheme or the future aesthetics you wish to try!
Keeping your ceiling fixtures neutral and adaptable will give you more creative freedom than customising everything to suit a particular style. If you suddenly feel the need to change your space, you’ll have to start from scratch. What if you often want to alter your interior design? It’ll be too costly to always begin from nothing. So, to make it more cost-effective, it's better to have neutral, minimalist ceiling fittings like this LED downlight!
Insulation Coverable But Requires a GU10 LED Lamp
This LED downlight does not come with a GU10 LED lamp. When you choose this option, you’ll only get the downlight fixture without any bulbs. So, if you wish to ensure that your LED downlights are insulation coverable, ensure that you’re pairing them with an appropriate GU10 LED bulb.
Besides requiring an LED GU10 bulb, there’s another condition that you need to follow if you wish to cover it with insulation. The LED lamp must not exceed a maximum of 7w of power. Say you want to use an LED bulb with higher wattage but still within the capacity of the downlight. You can. However, you won’t be able to cover your downlights with insulation.
Suitable for I-joists and Solid Joists; Fire-Rated to 90 Minutes
When you install your LED downlights, you must cut a hole into your ceiling. Unfortunately, doing so will compromise its fire protection. So, does this mean you’ll avoid using LED downlights? That’s not the case - you have to find the LED downlight that can restore the fire barrier of your ceiling.
This LED downlight is fire-rated to 90 minutes of protection. This means it can completely reseal the hole you cut to mount your lights and reinstate the ceiling’s fire integrity to prolong the spread of fire (in this case, by 90 minutes). Fire-rated downlights, like this one, can do so because of the built-in intumescent pad that activates when exposed to a specific temperature, blocking any gaps where the fire might slip through. In addition, this LED downlight is suitable for I-joists and solid joists, which not many LED downlights can offer!
Quick and Easy to Install - Mains Powered and Has Loop-In/Out Connectors
Are you worried that this LED downlight will have a nightmarish installation process? Fear not, because it’s the complete opposite! This LED downlight is made with features that streamline the mounting procedure. It has a large screwless terminal block and quick connectors, allowing you to do an easy loop-in/out connection.
In addition, it’s mains powered, so you don’t need to purchase a separate LED driver or transformer to make it work. After trimming the cut-out hole, wire the downlight to the mains circuit, add a bulb of your choice, and you’re ready to enjoy your lights! Remember to observe safety precautions and call an electrician if you cannot DIY the installation.
The Dimensions
Why do you need to know the dimensions of your lighting fixtures? Well, it provides you with a good idea of the quantity that you need to purchase and what is necessary for the installation. The measurement of the fixtures is especially needed for recessed fixtures since they require a cut-out hole. It’s something you cannot guess because if the trim is too small, the fitting will not go in, and if it’s too big, the fixture will fall off.
So, take note that this LED downlight is 112mm tall with an 85mm diameter and requires a 65mm to 75mm cut-out hole. Follow these measurements accurately, and you can expect a stunning installation!
