When you bought an incandescent bulb you knew that a higher wattage meant a brighter light. However, wattage really measures power consumption, not brightness. Lumens measure brightness. You can use the chart below to match the wattage of an incandescent to its LED counterpart. LEDs use less power and save money.
Warm lighting is similar to conventional lighting and has a softer feel. This lighting is perfect for living rooms and bedrooms.
Daylight - The colour of the lighting is used to represent ‘daylight colour’ indoors. It has neither the softness of warm white or the starkness of cool white.
Cool white - Is a brighter whiter light and is more suited for the bathroom or kitchen.
Pick Between Warm White (3000K) or Cool White (6000K)
The colour temperature of your lights can affect the overall atmosphere of the space. So, if you miscalculated and used the wrong LED colour, you’ll notice a disconnect between the ambience and function of the room.
You have two LED colour options for this LED under cabinet light: warm white or cool white. Warm white has a yellowish shade, while cool white has a bluish hue. Typically, warm white is used to enhance ambient lighting, making it cosier and more relaxing, whereas cool white is utilised for task lighting, providing focused illumination for detail-heavy activities!
Please note: In the cool white LED option ONLY, you might find that this light casts a slightly yellow halo effect when it shines onto the wall. Some customers love this, but some customers don't. If you don't want this effect, then you could choose the warm white option instead.
Superior Energy Efficiency! 1.8w & 115 Lumens
Why do people prefer LED lighting over traditional fixtures? It’s because LED lights are more eco-friendly, long-lasting, low maintenance and cost-effective. On top of all that, LEDs are highly efficient! It can convert most of the electricity they consume into light with very minimal ending up as waste (heat). As a result, even if the wattage requirement is lower than traditional fittings, LEDs can still produce outstanding illumination!
Powered by that same technology, this LED under cabinet light only needs 1.8w to produce 115 lumens maximum brightness with a 65-degree beam angle. Besides that, it has an average lifespan of 30,000 hours, which is way longer than a halogen or incandescent bulb!
IP44 Rated; Water-Resistant
This LED under cabinet light has an IP44 rating, so it has adequate protection against jets and splashes of water. However, you still need to be cautious! While it can withstand those kinds of contact with liquids, this LED under cabinet light is not 100% waterproof. So, if the installation you’re after is for the bathroom zone 1 or outdoors, you’ll have to look for a fitting that has an IP65 rating and above!
Where can you use this LED under cabinet light? Besides the areas mentioned earlier, you can install them anywhere in your home, like under the overhead kitchen cabinets, under the shelves in your study corner, under the shelves of your wardrobe and pantry, etc. If you’re stuck, you can look for inspiration online and try implementing it in your space!
12v DC - Requires an LED Driver
This LED under cabinet light is 12v DC (low-voltage), so you cannot wire it directly to the mains circuit. You’ll need an LED driver to make it work. However, the question is, which LED driver will you use? With the wide selection of drivers available, you may feel overwhelmed and end up with the wrong one. So, how will you know?
For three lights, you can use an 8w LED driver. If you’re installing six lights, get a 15w LED driver. It’s critical that you do not overload the LED driver you’re using. We advise that you stick within our suggested driver and cabinet light ratio to guarantee that your fittings can live through their long lifespan!
Diverse Control Methods
There are many ways to manage this LED under cabinet light! The most common is wiring your LED driver to the mains circuit so you can turn your fixtures on/off with a standard wall light switch. If you want a more straightforward installation, after connecting your lights to the driver, add a plug at the driver's end and plug it into an available socket.
More advanced control methods include remote dimming with our remote control or mains dimming with a traditional knob wall dimmer. If you choose mains dimming, you need to ensure that the wall dimmer is LED-compatible, and you’ll have to use a dimmable LED driver (requires a minimum of three lights to operate correctly).
